Our metabolism works so much better when we take a little snack between the meals. Snacks are often associated with an unhealthy diet, but they can be good for you if you make the right pick. A piece of a fresh vegetable can be a great snack—and here are a few ideas with cornichons and pickles.

Cornichons

If you are a sour food lover, cornichons are probably your thing. These fermented baby cucumbers have a Gallic pedigree that once made them luxury food, but nowadays you can get a jar in any store.

It’s impossible to eat just one, and considering their size, consuming just a few cornichons in a single serving will be enough. They’re tasty when eaten on their own, but you can also serve them with other snacks.

Pickles

At this point, you’re probably wondering—aren’t cornichons and pickles the same thing? There is little difference, since pickles tend to be bigger and softer than cornichons.

They’re both extremely popular cucumber varieties that can be served as a snack. Just like cornichons, pickles can be eaten on their own, with other veggies, or used as an ingredient in many tasty snacks.
