Everyone knows the classics like peanut butter and jelly; chocolate and coffee; and cheese and tomato. The reason they work is that one ingredient usually enhances the taste of the other. But there are a bunch of really good flavor combinations that perhaps never crossed your mind.

Goat Cheese and Guava

Guava is not the best-known fruit, but it has a unique flavor that isn’t too sweet, and a soft texture when ripe. Pairing it with mild goat cheese allows the guava to taste even sweeter, while a slightly underripe fruit contrasts well with the creamy cheese.

Strawberries and Balsamic Vinegar

Sweet on their own, strawberries are taken to a whole new level when balsamic vinegar comes into the mix. The sharp balsamic perfectly balances with the berries, making it an exciting combination for salads. Try it with a touch of black pepper, too.

Steak and Chocolate

We have yet to find something that chocolate can’t improve. And steak is not one of them as it happens to work particularly well with red meat. Melt the chocolate into a ganache and drizzle the sauce over your steak. Trust us, you won’t be sorry.
