Lasagna is a delightful, universally beloved dish. A cross between a pasta dish and a casserole, it’s perfect for a family or a group, and the layers just make it fun to eat. After all, there’s a reason why it’s Garfield’s favorite food. So if you wanna make lasagna for an upcoming dinner, here are some tips for how you can make it come out as good as possible.

Lots of Layers

While you don’t necessarily have to have the 20 layers that a restaurant lasagna might have, strive to have a good amount of layers to create a more interesting bite with juicier sauces. Try to aim for at least five and even up to ten layers. Use a deeper casserole dish to help.

Let the Top Sheet Hang Over

Here’s a pro tip not many people know about: most people’s favorite part of the lasagna is the crispy corners, right? Well, if you let the top sheet of pasta be a bit oversized, crawling up the edges of the casserole dish, it will end up crisping up quite a bit, creating that delicious crunch all along the edge of the lasagna.

Make Extra Sauce

The worst thing is a dry lasagna that feels like the balance of pasta and filling is off. So make some extra sauce that you can serve on the side of your lasagna for people to be able to add it to any bits that are dried or overcooked.
