In just a few short months, it will be getting warmer outside and we’ll be drinking frozen beverages again. When it comes to making smoothies, what separates an okay drink from a fabulous one? It turns out it starts from how you layer in the ingredients. With these tips, you’ll be making the best frozen drinks all spring and summer long.

Layering

Start by putting your liquid into your blender and then adding anything lightweight and green like spinach and kale. Then add the frozen fruit and ice.

Ice

Crushed ice is better than ice cubes and you probably don’t need to use as much ice as you think. You can always add more at the end.

Blend Lower and Longer

Instead of blending on higher, faster speeds, blend your smoothie on lower speeds for a longer period of time. This allows for your drink to blend evenly and not melt.

Use Extra Fruit

Make the most of the fresh fruit you have lying around that’s on the verge of going bad by throwing it into your smoothie.

Wash the Blender

Use the blender function when washing your blender and put in just enough water to cover the blades. Throw in some dish soap and run it. This ensures your blender will be clean the next time you use it.
