Let’s face it. Turkey can sometimes be out dry and tasteless. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Follow our easy tips for a juicy turkey that your friends and family will absolutely love.

How much turkey do you need?

You need about ½ pound of turkey per guest. If you will be serving a lot of guests, opt for two smaller turkeys rather than a big one.

What’s the best way to thaw a turkey?

Place the packaged, frozen bird on a rimmed baking sheet and refrigerate for 5 hours per pound. If you don’t have the time for this method, fill the sink or a large container with cold water. Place the turkey in its packaging breast-side down in the water. This will take 30 minutes per pound. Change the water every hour to prevent it from warming up.

How to roast the perfect turkey

Rub the turkey with melted butter before roasting. Always close the oven door while basting to stop the temperature from dropping.

How do you know when it’s cooked?

When a turkey is fully cooked, a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh should read 165°F. Rest your turkey for at least 30 minutes before carving.
