There are over 20 types of pasta in the world all of different shapes and sizes. Most of the time we buy what we know, but with such a huge variety to choose from, it’s time to mix it up. Some of them are great with rich sauces and some are suited better for salads. Learn which pastas to cook with what sauce and other uses for your pasta.

Fettucine

Fettucine is an egg pasta cut into long and narrow ribbons and is best served with heavy creamy sauces, like alfredo. This creamy mushroom sauce is really popular in most Italian restaurants and you can add a source of protein to make it a little more balanced.

Fusilli

Fusili is best combined with heavy tomato sauces as it holds the flavor well but is also great for a pasta salad. Pasta salads are so easy to make, all you need is some veggies, chicken, or tuna, and add some tomato sauce and you are done.

Macaroni

Nothing beats macaroni and cheese, this is a childhood favorite for most people. This pasta can also be added to salads and soups, the flavors will pass through the cooked tubes making each bite delicious.

This type of pasta is best served with lots of veggies, meat, and, some olive oil instead of heavy creamy sauces. You can also make a light pesto sauce to go with this type of pasta.
