Iced tea and summer go hand in hand. This refreshing, cool take on tea is perfect to combat the hot days of the middle months of the year and has all kinds of flavor possibilities.

One way to jazz up your iced tea in summertime is to add a little bit of alcohol to it. Spiked iced tea is one of our all-time favorite cocktail treats to enjoy while sitting on the patio outside when the sun’s shining and it’s warm out. Here’s how to make your own version at home!

Ingredients

  • 2 liters water
  • 10 black tea bags
  • 2 lemons
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 300 ml bourbon

Instructions

Start off by bringing two liters of water to a boil. Once you’ve done that, pour it into a glass pitcher and then add the black tea bags to steep for about 10-15 minutes. Take out the tea bags, squeeze their liquid into the pitcher with the rest of the tea, and then stir in the sugar vigorously. You want it to completely dissolve in the iced tea.

Finally, once you’ve stirred the sugar in, cut one lemon in half and squeeze its juice into the tea. Then, you’ll want to add the bourbon and stir. Place in the refrigerator to chill.

Cut up the other lemon into slices and use it as garnish, and enjoy your spiked iced tea!
