Ever sunk your teeth into a crisp chocolate chip cookie only to find that, well, those weren’t actually chocolate chips? The similarity between chocolate chips and raisins is the reason that some people have trust issues. And raisins always seem to be on the back foot.

If raisins make you recoil, perhaps you’ve just never experience them in a good way?

This hack will take those shriveled grapes to new heights by giving them a rejuvenated texture and burst of flavor.

All you need is a bit of fat and a contrasting flavor.

In the case of raisins, butter and salt go a long way. Simply lay out your golden raisins on a baking tray and toss them with melted butter. Add a sprinkling of sea salt and allow them to roast in a hot oven for a few minutes.

Once they are ready, you’ll find that the little nuggets have plumped up and you’ve got yourself a sweet and salty set of jewels.

The theory works with any dried fruit.

Add a fat like butter or olive oil, and then go wild with herbs and spices of your choosing.
