If you aren’t careful, it is way too easy to find yourself staring at a mountain of food waste on a week to week basis. Unfortunately, it can be far too easy to buy too much food and find yourself unable to eat it, contributing to a natural crisis that is related to our society’s overconsumption of goods.

Do you want to do your part in reducing or eliminating food waste? Check out these tips.

Don’t Overdo It On Produce

One of the easiest things to buy at the store that ends up going bad way too fast is produce. Fruits and vegetables are delicious and an essential part of a healthy diet, but don’t buy too many at once. You’ll have more than you can handle and they will become rotten and inedible.

Go to the Grocery Store Often and Buy Less

This might seem like a hassle, but you will find that making more frequent trips to the store and buying less will motivate you to eat everything that you have before buying more things. If you make one mega-trip per week, you’re sure to not eat some of the things that you bought.

Always Be Prepared for Leftovers

If you prepare too much food at a time, do not be shy about freezing it or putting it in the fridge! Not only will you not have to cook for a meal at a later date, but you will play a huge role in cutting down food waste.
