The Magic of Chia Seeds

By now you probably heard about chia but maybe shrugged it off as some vegan/health-nut obsession. This friendly seed is much more than a trendy superfood, though, as it can add both flavor and texture to some of your favorite foods, and be the basis for some new treats.

To get the healthy part out of the way: two tablespoons of chia contain more Omega-3 than two tablespoons of ground salmon, more potassium than a banana, and more calcium than a glass of milk.

You can sprinkle chia seeds on your salad to add a crunchy texture, or add it to your granola and yogurt breakfast.

Soaking chia in water makes a great option for egg white, particularly with all that protein! It’s a fantastic solution for plant-based baking, as it may add some of its good taste to your baked goods.

And if you grow to like its soaked texture, add some seed to your smoothie for the health, texture, and flavor boost.

Clearly, there’s more to chia seeds than health benefits, they fit nicely into the daily menu as part of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Keep them in a big jar or a spice jar to make it easy to sprinkle on top of things and you’re ready to go.
