It’s a time-old stereotype that getting your kids to eat vegetables isn’t easy, but there’s definitely a grain of truth to it. Why would a kid prefer to eat healthy veggies instead of sugar-filled candy that they’re probably already addicted to? This brings us to our next point, which is that if you want your kids to eat healthily, it starts with you: the parent.

Are You Eating Healthily?

So many of us think that our children don’t notice the things we do behind the scenes, but they’re a lot smarter than we think. If you’re eating candy in secret, they’ll know it. Even if they don’t necessarily see you doing it, they’ll understand that there’s something fishy going on. When you try to get them to eat healthy food at dinner, they’ll pick up on your mannerisms and know how you really feel about it.

If you treat healthy food like something that “needs to be done”, they’ll see it as something boring and unattractive. But if you truly love eating healthy food and make it a big part of your life, your kids will see how much you love it—and they’ll want to start eating it too. Kids emulate their parents, so if you want them to eat right, make sure that’s exactly what you’re doing!
