The Best Pesto Recipe Ever

Pesto is one of the sauces that is so simple to make but nevertheless packs in so much flavor. Pesto literally means paste in Italian but pesto Genovese which is the pesto most people know and love is normally made up of fresh flavors like basil, pine nuts, and cheese. You will normally find pesto on pasta, but you can use it for so many other things. Making it at home couldn’t be easier, so try it tonight!

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, put in 1 bunch of fresh basil leaves, 2 cloves of garlic, and 2 tablespoons of pine nuts or whatever type of nuts you have on hand.
  2. Start the food processor and slowly pour in 1/2 cup of extra-virgin olive oil until a paste forms.
  3. Scoop the pesto out into a bowl and add salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  4. Grate in 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese as well as 1 1/2 tablespoons of pecorino cheese.
  5. Combine everything so the cheese gets mixed into the paste.
  6. Serve immediately or store for 5-7 days in the fridge or 3-4 months in the freezer.

How To Use

You can put pesto straight onto pasta and mix well, or spread it on pizza dough with sliced tomatoes and onions for a fun flatbread.
