Just when we thought TikTok couldn’t give us a wilder drink trend than polarizing borgs, the users of this social media platform managed to prove us wrong. Grimace Shake is the latest craze taking TikTok by storm, but what is it all about and should you give it a shot?

The Grimace Shake trend started quite innocently – with McDonald’s introducing a new drink on June 6, to celebrate the birthday of its purple monster character Grimace. They just wanted to pay homage to their iconic mascot, but they weren’t aware of the madness that they were about to unleash upon the world.

Grimace shake took a life of its own on social media after TikTok users started posting hilarious videos that involve this purple, blueberry-flavored soft-serve drink. These videos follow a similar formula and show people pretending to pass out or playing dead after drinking the iconic McDonald’s drink.

@thefrazmaz R.I.P Grimace (and me) #mcdonalds #grimace #milkshake #grimaceshake #birthday #fakedeath #yummy ♬ Daylight

We’ve seen countless hilarious and pretty elaborate Grimace shake videos by now, but Austin Frazier was credited for starting this trend, taking inspiration from a similar video involving Burger King’s Spider-Verse Whopper.

“I said ok, then let’s do something similar. Let’s be super excited. Take a drink and the next scene immediately would be me on the ground with all the stuff next to me and some funny music, and that was literally it,” he told CBS News.

Even though the viral videos about Grimace shake took a pretty dark turn, this beverage is safe to drink and this trend only helped it become even more popular.

@thefrazmaz Replying to @Jonesy I originally made it for a quick, funny, one-off video and a lot of people jumped on board which honestly made it so much funnier #grimaceshake #grimace #mcdonalds #trend #viral #fyp ♬ original sound – Fraz

We love snacking, and there’s nothing better than munching on some French Fries—and who makes better fries than everyone’s favorite fast-food chain, McDonalds? If you want to make these at home, however, you’re in luck! Making McDonald’s fries at home is actually quite easy and can be a fun and tasty way to satisfy your fast food cravings without having to leave the house. Here’s how to do it.

Ingredients:

  • potatoes
  • vegetable oil (such as canola or peanut oil)
  • salt
  • seasonings (garlic powder or paprika)
    • garlic powder
    • paprika

Instructions:

  • Wash and cut the potatoes into thin fry-like shapes. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
  • Drain and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels. Heat up the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot until it reaches 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Carefully place the potatoes in the oil in small batches and fry for 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the fries from the oil with a slotted spoon or spider strainer and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Season the fries with salt (and any other seasonings, if desired) while they are still hot. Serve immediately, while they are still warm and crispy.

Calling all McRib fans… we have some news.

The majority of McDonald’s menu consists of beef and chicken, but other proteins have snuck in over the years. One such item is the McRib, which has gained an almost cult-like following due to its blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearances.

The sandwich made its original debut in 1981 as a limited-edition item. It featured a boneless pork patty, made of ground pork shoulder, that was shaped like a miniature rack of ribs and complemented by barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles, on a hamburger bun.

The McRib lasted only four years as a permanent item on McDonald’s menu on account of pork not being eaten frequently enough in the United States. Yet, it has made comebacks for special occasions, like promoting The Flintstones movie in 1994, as well as a series of similar instances.

McDonald’s has now announced, however, that the McRib is coming back… to say goodbye.

“We have good news, and we have bad news,” the franchise declared. “The elusive McRib is finally back… BUT this could be your last chance to get it. After three straight years headlining McDonald’s nationwide menu each fall, the iconic sandwich is embarking on a ‘Farewell Tour’ — giving fans across the country one more chance to experience a taste of the McRib at participating McDonald’s restaurants starting October 31.”

If that sounds familiar, it’s because this is not the McRib’s first Farewell Tour. In fact, McDonald’s has announced three others since 2005, although the sandwich keeps making a sneaky comeback.

Whether you decide to believe Ronald McDonald’s team this time is up to you, but just in case they are telling the truth, you have until November 20 to get your last McRib.

There is a special level of frustration reserved for McDonald’s McFlurry machines. Picture the scene—it’s sweltering outside, you can feel sweat dripping down your back, and all you want is a frozen dessert to cool you down.

So, you jump in your car, head to the nearest McD’s, and when the person at the drive-thru window asks what you would like today, you happily order your favorite McFlurry. A few minutes later, you have in your hands a container of sweet vanilla soft-serve swirled with bits of crushed cookies and sweets and life is instantly better.

Well, that’s the dream.

In reality, it’s more likely that you will order the desired McFlurry, only to be told that the machine used to make the dessert (as well as shakes and sundaes) is broken.

The occurrence is so common that a website now exists to tell McFlurry lovers when and where the machines are down!

McBroken.com is the brainchild of a 24-year-old software engineer. It displays every single McDonald’s in the U.S. with either a green or red dot, depending on if the ice cream machine is working.

“I reverse engineered McDonald’s internal API and I’m currently placing an order worth $18,752 every minute at every McDonald’s in the US to figure out which locations have a broken ice cream machine,” Rashiq Zahid explained.

Even McDonald’s is onboard, with the franchise’s VP of U.S. communications and government relations tweeting his support.

So, now the question is—how far would you travel for a McFlurry?

The United States is arguably the worldwide capital of french fries, and its never-ending array of fast-food restaurants are some of the best places to sample this tasty treat. If you’re going to be heading to the US and want to know which spots you must stop at to try french fries, make a list and keep these in mind as they represent the most iconic that the country has to offer.

McDonald’s

The most famous french fries in the country, and possibly in the world, belong to McDonald’s. Fried in vegetable oil and laced with “natural beef flavoring”, you’ll notice a slightly meaty touch with these salty beauties.

Arby’s

Arby’s is famous for its curly fries, which are cut in a unique, spiral curl manner. Also seasoned with a unique blend of spices including garlic powder and onion powder, they are especially delicious when dipped in the chain’s namesake sauce.

Chick-Fil-A

The king of Southern fast food is Chick-Fil-A and their french fries are a big reason why. Fried in a “waffle” shape in peanut oil, they are especially good for dipping since they’re able to hold onto such a big amount of sauce at once.

For better or for worse, the United States of America is definitely the fast-food capital of the world. Americans popularized this cheap, fast restaurant craze that has now spread to all corners of the globe.

Have you ever been curious about which restaurants are leading the fast-food charge in the United States, a country where the average person spends $1,200 per year at these restaurants? These are the most widespread franchises in the country.

Subway

Subway is the largest fast-food chain in the United States, with over 25,000 locations. This chain, which specializes in sub sandwiches made using easily-prepared ingredients, finds its success in its simple business model which allows for the restaurant to be staffed by few employees.

McDonald’s

You might be surprised to learn that McDonald’s isn’t number one on this list, as it trails behind Subway with about 14,000 franchises. These fast food pioneers are still going strong, however, as their $38 billion annual revenue figure blows all competition away.

Pizza Hut

America’s most widespread pizza joint comes in at #3 on the list, with around 7,500 franchises nationwide. Customers can enjoy this chain’s fresh-baked pizzas by picking them up or eating them at the store, or via its well-known delivery network.
