Sometimes we all have that massive sugar craving that can’t be taken care of with just a piece of chocolate. Those moments require something outlandish, and we think we just discovered something that will get the job done.

TikToker Yasmine Daura aka @thechefmine recently shared a recipe that combines two of the most satisfying desserts— Crème Brûlée and doughnuts. The result is a sweet creation that you probably won’t be able to get enough of.

Crème Brûlée Doughnuts

Daura was kind enough to share the recipe for her Crème Brûlée doughnuts and also record a video for detailed instructions.

To make doughnuts dough, you will need the following:

  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 ½ tsp yeast
  • 3 ¼ cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 60g unsalted butter

Mix the yeast with milk and let it sit for five minutes. Then add the remaining ingredients and form a smooth dough. Leave the dough for one hour to rise, then form doughnuts and fry them in oil until golden brown. Once fried, fill the doughnuts with the filling of your choice—Daura uses French vanilla pastry crème.

Once your doughnuts are filled, you will need to make a caramel. Simply combine 1 cup sugar and ½ cup water in a saucepan, place on medium heat, and “swirl occasionally” until the caramel gets an amber color. From there, dip one side of the doughnut into the caramel, let it harden, and dig in.

You can check out Daura’s video with the Crème Brûlée doughnuts recipe in full below.

Doughnuts are a favorite among many—they come in all shapes and sizes and all the fillings and flavors imaginable. Why not try to make them at home? Here are three different ways you can bake doughnuts at home. You can use any dough recipe, and they will turn out perfectly.

Glazed

The most obvious and traditional way to make doughnuts is deep-fried, so if you’re not afraid of a bit of oil, fill up your pots. Once you have made the dough, cut and shape it into the original doughnut shape and set it aside—this allows the dough to rise a little more. In a separate bowl, combine powdered sugar with milk, creating a glaze-like consistency. Once you have dried the doughnut, drop it into the glaze on each side for about 10 seconds.

Mini Popcorn Doughnuts

These mini doughnuts are so tiny and cute that everyone will want one. Like before, use any online doughnut recipe to make the dough. However, when creating the shape, you need to roll the dough in the palm of your hands to create a ball-like shape. Once you have popped them into the pan to be deep-fried, drop them into a smaller bowl containing sugar and cinnamon. Roll the doughnuts to ensure they are fully covered. Set aside and enjoy.

Stuffed Doughnuts

Stuffed doughnuts are every kid’s dream. The endless options on what can be filled in a doughnut are remarkable. They are traditionally filled with jelly or custard, but over the years, there has been an influx of filled doughnuts getting more and more extravagant. All you need to do is invest in a suitable baking syringe and melt any chocolate or flavor of filling of your choice.

Hanukkah is a Jewish festival, and just like other Jewish festivals, food is at the center of the tradition. Jews celebrate this festival by eating typically fried and fatty food. Here are our three favorite festive treats to try this Hanukkah.

Latkes

Latkes, also known as potato pancakes, are deep-fried grated potato pancakes. They are typically mixed with onion, egg, flour, and occasionally seasoning. Grate some potatoes in a bowl and add an egg with some flour to combine the mixture. Then shape the mixture, creating a ‘pancake’ shape. In a wok or pan, deep fry the latke in oil until golden brown.

Doughnuts (Sufganiyot)

Traditionally, these doughnuts are jelly-filled and are impossible not to indulge in over the Hanukkah period. They can also be filled with custard. They are deep-fried and finished off with some powdered sugar. Over the years, more and more bakeries have been stepping up their game with different flavors.

Chocolate Coins (Gelt)

Gelt are mini chocolate coins that are often given as a prize or traded when playing a game called dreidel over the Hanukkah period—this is a very popular game to play as a family and an absolute favorite for the children.

There is a fine line between all things Thanksgiving and Christmas. The one involves pumpkin spice on practically everything, while the latter sings of gingerbread men and sugar cookies. While there is no official time that the one transitions into the other, you could probably put it down to that moment when the clock strikes midnight on the last Friday in November. This year, that happens to be November 25.

That is the day on which Krispy Kreme will begin selling its Christmas range of doughnuts that are almost too pretty to eat. The delectable collection has been inspired by a classic Christmas icon: good ol’ Santa Claus himself.

“We’re bringing the fun, flavors and joy of the Christmas season to life by turning Krispy Kreme shops into Santa’s Bake Shop,” stated Dave Skena, the chain’s global chief brand officer. “We hope our fans pick up these delicious, fresh treats to share with family and friends at holiday gatherings.”

So what can we look forward to?

There will be a Sugar Cookie Doughnut which is an Original Glazed doughnut, iced with sugar cookie icing, and topped with a sugar cookie sprinkle blend; the Gingerbread Cookie Crumb Doughnut which is filled with gingerbread cream cheese, dipped in white icing, topped with gingerbread cookie crumbs and a holiday sprinkle blend, and drizzled with gingerbread icing; and a Red Velvet Cake Doughnut that is a glazed red velvet cake doughnut topped with cream cheese icing and red velvet cake crumbles.

You can also get yourself a Sugar Cookie Latte or Peppermint Mocha Latte—both of which are available hot, iced, or frozen—to wash it all down!

Donuts are one of those foods that are infinitely delicious, delightfully tasty, and so convenient and cheap to get that most people never bother to make them at home, especially because they’re a bit of a tricky recipe. But if you’re up for the challenge, it can be incredibly rewarding to bite into your first homemade donut. Here are some tips that will help you get a good result.

Don’t Be Afraid to Fry

A big reason why people avoid making donuts is the deep-frying, which isn’t the most accessible at-home cooking method. To avoid it, people try making donuts in the oven, but those are just never going to live up to properly deep-fried donuts. So give it a shot, because it’s really not as hard as you might think. Fry at 360 to 375°F and you’ll get a perfectly fluffy donut.

Glaze, Frost, and Fill

Another big mistake people make with homemade donuts is skipping or being too light with the frosting, filling, and glazes. But even store-bought donuts would be bland if they didn’t have these things to take them up a notch. So have fun trying out different frosting and filling flavors, and don’t be stingy! After all, these are donuts, not health bars.

It might be hard to believe, but the month of June is coming right up as we start to look towards the first day of summer! The sixth month of the year is full of interesting food celebrations in 2021 that you can use as an opportunity to eat some of the tastiest dishes around. Here are three that you should add to your calendar for the upcoming month.

Tuesday, June 1: National Doughnut Day

Whether you like chocolate-glazed or jelly doughnuts, grab your favorite one and enjoy with a coffee on this day.

Friday, June 18: National Sushi Day

Looking for something to do on this Friday in the middle of the month after finishing the work week? How about going out to your favorite sushi restaurant and enjoying this special day, where one of Japan’s most celebrated and beloved culinary traditions is honored.

Monday, June 28: National Ceviche Day

Have you ever tried ceviche before? If you have, you’ll definitely want to order some on Monday, June 28th. If not, this is the perfect occasion to give it a try. A Latin-American classic, seafood and citrus flavors are on full display in this dish which is especially beloved in Peru and Mexico.

Donut lovers rejoice! The donut giant Krispy Kreme is coming out with a new line of mini donuts and they’re giving them away all January long! If you just started your New Year’s diet, don’t worry, the donuts are less than 100 calories each.

The mini donuts will continue being on the chain’s menu after January and they come in Krispy Kreme’s most popular flavors – Original Glazed, Chocolate Iced Glazed, Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles, and Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles. They’re free every Monday during the month of January from 4 p.m to 7 p.m at participating locations.

Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a press release, “Too many people bail on their New Year’s resolutions before they are even halfway through January. That’s no good. Sometimes a mini-indulgence, or cheat, is all you need to help you stick with it.” We couldn’t agree more. If you want to indulge in the regular-sized Original Glazed donut, you’ll be taking in 190 calories and the mini version is only 90 calories.

We’re getting hungry just thinking about these mini donuts. Is it Monday yet?

When you think of doughnuts, you probably think of something sweet, right?

These fried doughy treats are typically either glazed with a sugary substance or filled with a sweet ingredient such as fruit jams or chocolate sauces. Did you know, however, that savory doughnuts are now becoming one of the biggest doughnut trends in the world?

Creative chefs all around the globe have begun to experiment with savory toppings and fillings for doughnuts in order to make a one-of-a-kind treat. When you think about it, it makes all the sense in the world. Fried dough goes great with savory things, even if that’s not normally what you associate a doughnut with.

If you can find it in a bagel, nowadays, you can find it in a doughnut. The only real difference is that the doughnut version of these treats is made with fried, airy dough instead of the heavy and baked bread that results from the process of making a bagel.

From doughnuts and lox to pizza doughnuts, you can really find all kinds of variety in the world of savory doughnuts. Have you tried one yet?

Glazed

The most obvious and traditional way to make doughnuts is deep-fried, so if you’re not afraid of a bit of oil, fill up your pots.
