Make a show-stopping Christmas dessert with only two ingredients. It sounds too good to be true, we know, but trust us. This is our new favorite go-to Christmas dessert that is cheap to buy and even easier to make.

All you need is a slab of chocolate—we recommended dark chocolate—and two ready-made rolls of puff pastry that you can purchase at any supermarket. On the day you want to make your dessert, ensure that you take the ready-made puff pastry out of the freezer or fridge at least an hour before you are ready to start baking. This will ensure that the pasty is fully defrosted and will feel more dough-like. This is an essential step because the last thing you want is for your pasty to break before you even start.

Once your pasty has fully defrosted, you can roll and shape the dough into any shape you prefer. We love to keep the pasty and simply place the slab of chocolate in the middle. Take the second defrosted roll and cover the slab of chocolate. Here you can cut and shape the pasty to look like a Christmas tree. You can also roll and shape the dough into a snowflake or another shape of your choice.

Ensure that the order is pasty, chocolate, and pastry, and you are good to go. Once you are happy, place on a lined baking tray and pop into a preheated oven at 350 degrees and bake for about 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool down, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Whether you’re looking for some fun ways to “spice up” a holiday party menu or just want an alternative to hot chocolate to curl up with, mulled wine may be just the beverage for you. It’s a popular beverage during the holiday season and throughout winter in Europe—typically found at Christmas markets as well as certain pubs. It’s incredibly simple to make and customizable depending on whether you want to add spices like cinnamon for additional warmth and flavor. Feel free to experiment with different types of wine and other ingredients, but here’s a simple recipe to use as a reference.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 1-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-2 star anise
  • 1 tbsp dried ginger
  • 8 whole cloves
  • ½ orange, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup sweetener of choice—we recommend honey or maple syrup

Directions:

  • Add wine and sweetener to a saucepan over medium-low heat and stir to combine.
  • Add orange and spices and heat until mixture is just below simmering.
  • Reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, covered.
  • Remove from heat and pour through a strainer to remove spices.
  • Ladle into mugs to serve warm.
  • Enjoy!

Everyone knows that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and this year is set to be even better! Target has announced that, not only will it be selling a host of items that we love from the brand, it will be importing goodies from Marks & Spencer, too!

Anyone who has taken a trip to the U.K. is likely familiar with the high-quality department store that stocks everything from clothes to food and household items. But just in case they haven’t, they will soon be able to experience M&S products for themselves, without having to hop on a plane.

From mid-November, 15 signature Marks & Spencer items will be available in Target stores, thanks to a partnership between the two retailers.

“One of the things that differentiates Target is the way we make style affordable and accessible for all and this partnership is the latest example of us building on that legacy in food and beverage,” stated Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief food and beverage officer. “By joining forces with an iconic brand like Marks & Spencer, we’re bringing our guests amazing products and giving them another reason to turn to Target for the moments of joy that make the holidays special.”

Expect Christmas-themed buttery shortbread biscuits; mini chocolate houses that come in milk, dark, and white; and gingerbread houses that come in a musical tin.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

Dinners are always lovely when there’s a swoon-worthy glazed ham involved, but baking it to perfection is easier said than done. If your ham is missing a little something to be perfect, it’s possible you’re making one of these common mistakes.

Meat Choice

To make sure you have a quality ham, it’s always a good idea to order a smoked bone-in ham from your local butcher. Boneless ham may be more convenient, but bone-in ham usually has a better flavor and it will look much more dramatic on your table.

Baking Mistakes

When it comes to the cooking process, avoid going overboard with liquids because they’ll keep your ham moist by melting away even if you use them in smaller quantities. Using aluminum foil to cover your ham will also help it to retain its natural moistness.

Glazing Mistakes

Don’t rush things when it comes to your glaze, and wait about 15-20 minutes before your ham is finished to apply it. Once you do it, increase the temperature to give your ham beautiful color and taste, and keep an eye on your oven to avoid burning down your ham.

There’s something about the holiday season that wakes up the cookie monster in all of us, so why not bake yourself some cookies? Even if you’re not a pro, these vegan cinnamon stars look so delicious you won’t be able to resist making them on your own.

Food blogger Anja, who has attracted over 140.000 Instagram followers with her page byanjushka shared this tasty recipe on her blog and we’re really star-stuck after seeing how amazing the final product is.

To make the whole thing even better, her recipe is 100% vegan because she used aquafaba as a substitute for eggs. In addition to serving them to your guest, you can put them inside a nice little package and gift them to all of your vegan friends!

Ingredients:

Cookies Dough

  • 100 g powdered sugar sieved
  • 75 g ground almonds
  • 100 g ground hazelnuts
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp orange peel
  • 1/2 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 30 ml of water about 4 tbsp

Vegan Egg Whites

  • 30 ml Aquafaba (chickpea water)
  • 60 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar

Instructions:

Cookies Dough

  1. Put all the ingredients for the cookie dough in a bowl and knead into a dough.
  2. Then put in the fridge for an hour.
  3. Roll out the cooled dough on a baking mat or floured work surface approx. 4-5mm thick and cut out about 35 cookies.
  4. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and allow to dry for at least 2 hours.

Vegan Egg Whites

  1. Beat the Aquafaba with a hand mixer until it looks like egg whites.
  2. Slowly add the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar and mix again until creamy consistency.
  3. Preheat the oven to 130 degrees top and bottom heat.
  4. Spread the icing on the dried cookies with the help of a teaspoon and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Then allow to cool.

We all tend to gain a couple of extra pounds during the holiday season because it’s impossible to resist all the tasty treats it brings along. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy all of them, but to still welcome spring in great shape, here’s a couple of things to keep in mind.

Right Time

Holiday season can’t go without egg nog, pumpkin spice lattes, and similar tasty drinks that happen to be extremely high in sugar content. You shouldn’t completely abstain from drinking them, but keep that pleasure for special occasions instead of doing it every day.

Regular Workouts

Don’t use bad weather as an excuse to put your fitness goals on pause. It may be cold outside, but you can still burn all the extra calories from gingerbread cookies by hitting the gym or working out at home while Christmas songs play in the background.

Practice Moderation

There’s no need to give up any of your favorite holiday treats this season – as long as you know when to stop. Moderation is extremely important when it comes to eating any sugar-rich foods all year long, and you shouldn’t forget it once jingle bells start ringing.
