As the fall fast approaches, the time for pumpkin spice lattes is upon us. Still, as delicious as they may be, you might be in the mood for an edgier drink, especially if you have some parties coming up. Here is your guide to making a spiked pumpkin chai latte for that added kick.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup whole milk and 2 extra tablespoons
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 2 ounces whiskey
  • whipped cream

Instructions:

  1. Boil 10 ounces of water in the kettle. Pour 1/4 cup into each mug. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags and pour 1 ounce whiskey into both cups.
  3. In a measuring bowl, whisk together the ground cardamom, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  4. Microwave the pumpkin milk mixture for 20 seconds before stirring. Repeat the process until the mixture has been warmed for 2 minutes total.
  5. Pour the mixture into a frothing pitcher and froth until foamy and thick. Pour into each mug and top with remaining foam and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice.
