Is there any limit to the creativity possessed by the development teams behind Trader Joe’s products? Just when we think that they must be running out of ideas, they surprise us by finding a new way to make something new. One area, however, where TJ’s consistently delivers, is the spice department. Here are a few of their best blends.

Everything But The Bagel

What’s in a name? In this case, everything that usually coats an everything bagel. Poppy seeds, black and white sesame, minced garlic, dried onion and sea salt are good for more than just carby breakfast foods. We sprinkle this stuff on everything from scrambled eggs to sushi.

Mushroom & Co. Umami

Umami is a Japanese word that roughly translates to “essence of deliciousness.” Basically, umami describes a savoriness often associated with complex or meaty flavors. Mushroom & Co. is made with two kinds of dried mushroom powder, crushed red pepper, and a blend of spices that adds a nice depth and subtle kick that works especially well in soups and Asian recipes.

Chile Lime Seasoning Blend

TJ’s Chile Lime is our go-to whenever we want to add a bit of salt and heat to a dish. The lime also lends a subtle tartness that’s lovely sprinkled over fresh fruit or on the rim of a cocktail.
