Roasting is the Ideal Way to Repurpose Fruit

Roasted vegetables are very much a thing. So why not roasted fruit? Sure, we’ve all indulged in an apple tart or peach cobbler, but believe us when we say that sometimes that jammy, syrupy fruit is all you need. Roasting fruit is also an excellent way to use any produce that may not be up to scratch.

Do your plums look a little bruised? Throw ‘em in a baking tray! The same goes for berries that may be looking a little on the pale side.

By placing the fruit in the oven, it allows the sugars to caramelize and the pieces to soften evenly. The formula for roasting is rather simple. Cut your fruit into even pieces, sprinkle on a sweetener, add a pinch of salt, and include some type of aromatic or flavoring.

Delicious combinations include apples, maple syrup, and cinnamon, strawberries with brown sugar and cardamom, and peaches with agave and lavender. The pairings really are endless!

Toss the ingredients together and then lay them out on a baking tray in a single layer and roast at 350°. It is totally fine to mix different fruit together, but just bear in mind that some may cook quicker than others. We recommend that you start checking around the 20 minute mark.
