It’s finally here! For 11 months of the year, we wait patiently (or as patiently as can be) for PSL season. True fans know that we’re talking about Pumpkin Spice Lattes!
Sipping on a gourd may have seemed bizarre once upon a time, but that was before Starbucks changed our minds—and society as we know it—in the early 2000s. The coffee chain first introduced its signature Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2003 and dozens of other brands have hopped on the flavor bandwagon since.
According to CNBC, the PSL is Starbucks’ most popular seasonal drink, with around 424 million Pumpkin Spice Lattes sold worldwide. Despite Starbucks having branches in the Southern Hemisphere which has an opposite seasonal schedule, the drinks are only available when autumn arrives in the north, making PSL season simultaneous around the globe.
Fall is now set to begin as Pumpkin Spice Lattes will be available at Starbucks from August 30. The 2022 launch comes a week later than in 2021, and even later than competitors, Dunkin’ Donuts, who decided to get autumn underway on August 10 when they began selling their own pumpkin-flavored products.
Now that Starbucks is on board, we can declare PSL season officially open!
