Some viral foods are a true delight for all senses, while others are a little bit more difficult to stomach. That seems to be the case with Food Network’s popcorn salad that left many people puzzled after becoming the latest viral sensation.

Popcorn salad became the subject of a heated debate after being featured on the cooking show Girl Meets Farm. The host Molly Yeh presented it as a delicious dish, and described it as “one of those classic Midwestern dishes that you would often find in a church-basement potluck.”

Midwestern viewers didn’t seem to agree with her, and they were quick to denounce the salad—pretty much like everyone else. The viral recipe was roasted by countless people on social media, but is it really as bad as people say it is?

Most people making fun of the viral recipe failed to try it, because they believe popcorn is best left alone. If you’re in the mood for an experiment, check out Yeh’s viral recipe, and decide for yourself if it’s worth the shot. In addition to popcorn, the list of ingredients also includes mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, carrots, sugar snap peas, celery, and more. Yeh promises that the combo is super-crunchy and delicious.
