There are plenty of food scraps we discard on a daily basis despite the fact that they’re edible, and also very nutritious. Here are some common food scraps you should try and use in the future.

Juice Pulp

Most people don’t like drinking juice pulp, which is a shame because pulp is loaded with fiber and other nutrients. Keep in mind that you can also use juice pulp to add texture and flavor to your smoothies and desserts such as muffins.

Citrus Peels

Don’t throw away citrus peels because you can use them to add wonderful citrusy flavor to your desserts, condiments, salad dressings, and other dishes.

Watermelon Rind

Most people don’t know that watermelon rind is also edible, which is why this part of watermelon usually ends up in the trash. You can put it to good use by making pickled watermelon rind, tossing it in your salads, or simply juicing the rind and making a refreshing watermelon juice or smoothie.

Broccoli Stalks

It’s time to stop wasting all those broccoli stalks because they’re just as tasty and nutritious as the florets. You can cook and add them to your soups and stews, use them to make tasty broccoli hummus, or simply roast them with other veggies.
