An immersion blender is a pretty popular kitchen tool and you can use it to make everything from soups and stews to dips and sauces, but they can all be made without it, too. If you don’t have an immersion blender at home, here are five popular alternatives you can use instead.

Hand Mixer

If we had to pick a kitchen tool that shares most similarities with an immersion blender, a hand mixer would make the cut. Even though it’s usually used in baking, you can make soups and sauces using a hand mixer, as well.

Stand Mixer

A quality stand mixer comes with a long list of different attachments and some of them function pretty much the same way as an immersion blender.

Food Processor/Blender

Food processors and blenders are a pretty obvious alternative for an immersion blender because they do the same thing on a larger scale.

Electric Whisk

Pretty similar to a hand mixer, an electric whisk can also be used to make many of the same things you’re usually making with your immersion blender.

Potato Masher

Even if you don’t have any of the electronic devices on the list, you can still try mashing soft veggies for soups and sauces with a potato masher.
