Oatmeal is a popular breakfast food for many reasons—it’s comforting, tasty, healthy, and nutritious. However, here are a few things to keep in mind and mistakes to avoid to make healthy oatmeal every morning.

Too Many Toppings

Fresh fruit and nuts will make your oatmeal nutritious and tasty, but try not to go overboard with toppings, otherwise, your meal will turn into a calorie bomb.

Not Adding Protein

Eating a high-protein breakfast will keep you full for hours, give you plenty of energy, and can also prevent overeating later in the day. That’s why it’s important to pack protein into oatmeal by adding nuts, nut butter, or other protein-rich topping.

Too much sugar

If you want to make oatmeal sweet and tasty try adding cinnamon, nut butter, or fresh fruits like banana, berries, and mango. Avoid adding sugar because it can lead to increased blood pressure and weight gain.

Eating Packaged Oatmeal

Even though it’s more convenient, store-bought oatmeal is also packed with artificial sweeteners and calories. Buying oats and your own toppings is always a better and healthier option for people who want a nutritious breakfast.
