McDonald’s is one of the pioneers of the drive-thru concept. The popular fast-food chain was one of the first to allow its customers to order food and pick it up without ever having to leave their car. But this kind of service doesn’t seem to be efficient for them anymore.

McDonald’s recently revealed that it would test a new drive-thru concept that should significantly improve the efficiency of its locations and allow customers to get their food faster.

The new drive-thru comes with a series of tweaks to the original formula. Now, the customers will order their food prior to their arrival through an app. The staff will be able to see how long it takes the customer to reach the location and will start preparing the order accordingly.

The food will no longer be delivered by staff and will be sent out by a conveyor belt. Additionally, the locations will be smaller without the option for a sit-down. The inside will have the kitchen, room for placing takeaway orders, and room for delivery drivers.

The new drive-thru concept is currently being tested out at a location in Fort Worth, Texas. If it ends up being a success, McDonald’s is likely to introduce it nationwide. What do you think?
