If you’ve ever watched The Great British Bake Off, you’ll know that things in the tent can get intense. Who thought that making an éclair could be so stressful?!
As the bakers try week in and week out to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, they are aided by co-hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding whose job it is to keep everything calm. Sadly, the dynamic duo is going to be one short from next season.
After taking over from Sandi Toksvig three years ago, Matt has announced that his time on Bake Off has come to an end.
“After three series and 51 episodes, I am cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else,” the Little Britain star wrote on Twitter. “I wish whomever takes over all the very best and I can’t wait to tune into the next series without already known who won!”
Matt’s decision was based on it being too complicated to juggle his time on Bake Off, Fantasy Football League, and the other projects he has going on.
With season 13 of GBBO having just concluded, and the next likely to begin in September, it may be a while yet till we hear who joins Noel in the tent.
