Chili oil is a great way to add some kick and spice to your food. You can use it as a condiment or as a dip, although the latter one is only recommended for those who can handle the heat. And best of all, making chili oil is super-fast and super simple. You only need to invest 15 minutes of your time (preparation and cooking included) and use three simple ingredients. Want to know how? Check out below.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil (you can also use canola oil or grapeseed oil)
  • 3 tablespoon chili flakes or crushed dried chili peppers
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Mix the oil, chili flakes, and salt in a pot.

2. Place the pot on the stove on medium heat and cook for five minutes. Don’t forget to mix often and watch for the smoke. If the oil starts smoking, remove it from the stove to avoid burning it. Wait a few seconds, lower the heat a bit, and then return the pot to the stove.

3. After five minutes, remove the pot from the stove. Let it cool all the way to room temperature.

4. And that’s about it. You can immediately test it while pouring the rest into a glass bottle or a jar and storing it in the fridge.
