Hummus is definitely one of our favorite dips. This chickpea-based paste is great on all kinds of things, including pita bread, sliced vegetables, and salad. With that said, we find that there are three essential ingredients that you must add on top of hummus to enjoy it to its maximum.

Be sure to add these three additions to your hummus to make the most of it.

Olive Oil

Olive oil adds a little bit of richness and moisture to hummus, which can often end up too dry and paste-like if you aren’t careful. For this reason, we like to add a dash of it on top of our serving of hummus.

Lemon Juice

One thing that we absolutely love to add to our hummus is a dash of lemon juice. It seems just right that a Mediterranean food like hummus would go well with lemon juice, and adding lemon juice gives it just a touch of tart flavor that is surprisingly good.

Paprika

Finally, the cherry on top of any serving of hummus is a healthy sprinkle of paprika. This delicious spice adds a little bit of smoky and spicy flavor to your hummus, bumping up its flavor quotient big-time.
