Ice cream shop Van Leeuwen sent the internet into a frenzy last month when they teamed up with Kraft Foods and launched a limited-time Kraft Macaroni & Cheese ice cream to celebrate National Mac and Cheese Day. The new flavor caused debate on social media but ended up being a success, as Van Leeuwen sold all 6,000 pints in less than an hour.
Those who had a chance to try Mac & Cheese ice cream were genuinely surprised and branded it as “enjoyable”. This prompted the people who missed the opportunity to start campaigning for the flavor to return so they could give it a try as well.
Van Leeuwen heard the pleas and decided to test the public’s cravings for Mac & Cheese ice cream by asking their social media followers whether the flavor should be brought back.
“The flavor you never knew you needed but then maybe wanted it because you were intrigued, but then it sold out,” wrote the ice cream shop on Instagram while posting a video of a yellowish substance being mixed. “Should we bring it back?”
Instagram delivered an overwhelmingly positive response to the question, so Van Leeuwen promptly re-stocked their Kraft Macaroni & Cheese ice cream supplies. The flavor is now available in another limited run, but the company promises that they “made more than last time.”
