Level Up Your Caprese Salad With This Addition

It’s hard to believe a caprese salad could get even better, but it’s true. You know the classic caprese—deliciously sweet tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil leaves, and of course, balsamic and olive oil. This combination of fresh foods is heavenly, but there’s a way to level it up.

If you like a more hearty salad, you can add one ingredient to make it more filling and delicious. If you’re a carb-lover, this is perfect for you. The secret to this salad is adding fresh bread. Instead of eating it with bread on the side, there is a way to prepare the bread to make it more cohesive.

All you have to do is cut your bread of choice into 1 inch cubes and toast them with olive oil in a pan until the edges are a nice golden brown. Put these bread cubes onto a plate and top it with all of the ingredients of your caprese salad.

We recommend using cherry tomatoes (cut in half) because they are extra sweet. Then cut your fresh mozzarella into cubes and add it to the salad. Lastly, all you need to do is top your salad with a bit of olive oil and balsamic (vinegar or glaze–whichever you prefer)!
