Kitchen Tools You Actually Need

When you’re an avid home cook, you often get kitchen tools as gifts that you don’t end up really needing. And you can also get tempted by those tools yourself, wondering if you should buy them when you get ads for them online or see them in your favorite home goods store. The truth is, most specialized kitchen tools really are superfluous. But here are some that you’ll actually use.

Kitchen Shears

If you don’t have a pair of scissors in your kitchen, getting one will change your life. Not only are they super useful for opening packaging, but you can also use them to trim the fat off meat, cut herbs, trim the crust off of pies, and even cut up a whole chicken.

Tongs

It’s a shame how few people have tongs in their kitchen. They’re great for so many uses, like turning your steak over, removing pasta from boiling water, and even serving foods, among other purposes.

Immersion Blender

An immersion blender is superior to a standing blender for so many reasons. In addition to being smaller and easier to store, not taking up valuable counter space, it’s also easier to handle than a standard blender and can be used for a variety of purposes like blending soups, sauces, and smoothies, right in their own containers.
