Tuna salad is the most common dish that comes to mind when people mention tuna dishes. However, there is one arguably better way to use a tuna can that’s been sitting in your pantry. You can make some tuna pate.

Tuna pate is simple and quick to make as tuna salad and just as delicious. However, it is more versatile since you can use it in sandwiches, as a spread, and even as a dip for crackers. We recommend following the recipe below and then trying all three options.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Drain the tuna and peel the egg and the onion.
  2. Combine tuna, egg, onion, butter, mustard, lemon juice, paprika, and a pinch of black pepper into a blender. Blend until you notice that the ingredients are starting to combine.
  3. Pause the blender and add two tablespoons of olive oil. Continue blending for one minute and then add two more tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt.
  4. Continue blending until you get a smooth consistency without any visible chunks.
  5. Move tuna pate to a jar or some other container and let it sit in a fridge for a couple of hours.
  6. Dig in!
