What’s better than a coffee at Starbucks? A free coffee at Starbucks. And now it’s easier to get one than ever before, thanks to a recent upgrade to Starbucks’ reward program.
Every Starbucks customer who brings their own clean reusable cup for the coffee drink they are ordering will get 25 stars. Repeat this once more, and you’ll have 50 stars, which is enough to get a complimentary brewed hot coffee. Of course, you can also opt for hot tea and bakery item or continue collecting stars until you have 150 for custom-order drinks like Frappuccino.
It obviously pays off to carry a reusable cup with you when you are picking up your morning coffee, considering how hard it is to earn 25 stars with other methods. The Starbucks Rewards program only gives customers between one and two stars for every dollar they spend.
The change applies to stores and not drive-thru locations, and it’s part of Starbucks’ efforts to be greener and sustainable while reducing waste. The company is also handing out reusable cups, with every customer who tops their Starbucks card with PayPal or makes at least a $5 dollar purchase receiving a coupon for one.
