It’s Already Saint Patrick’s Day at McDonald’s

Saint Patrick’s Day is still a month away, but McDonald’s is already getting us in the mood.

For those unfamiliar with the holiday, it commemorates the day on which Ireland’s foremost patron Saint passed away in the 5th century. Although it is a national holiday in Ireland, countries around the world celebrate the day by engaging in Irish festivities.

As it is traditional to wear green on March 17, McDonald’s is bringing two brightly colored items to its menu.

First is the Shamrock Shake which has been around since the ‘70s. It was originally created in 1967 by McDonald’s owner in Connecticut and debuted nationally three years later. With its vanilla soft-serve base, whipped cream topping, and a cherry, the mint-flavored drink is practically dessert in a cup.

If you prefer something on the crunchy side, McDonald’s will also be serving up its Oreo Shamrock McFlurry which may have been the only good thing that came out of 2020. Expect the same minty Shamrock flavor, complemented by chocolatey Oreo cookies.

The two sweet treats will be available from February 20 for a limited time. They’re expected to go fast, so may the luck of the Irish be with you!
