In Poland? You Must Try These Three Dishes

Poland is one of our favorite countries to travel through and eat in. While its gastronomic traditions might not be widely known on the world stage, anyone that has had the pleasure of traveling in this underrated country will know just how delicious its food is.

So, if you find yourself in a city like Krakow, Warsaw, or Gdansk, be sure to take advantage of its gastronomic offerings. Here are three dishes in particular that you should definitely order.

Pierogi

If Poland has a dish for which it is known worldwide, it definitely has to be pierogies. These dumplings are either boiled (the traditional preparation) or pan-fried after being filled with filling such as ground meat, potatoes, or sauerkraut. They are absolutely delicious.

Gołąbki

Most Central European countries have their own take on cabbage rolls, and the Polish version is one of our personal favorites. These treats are typically filled with rice, veggies, and ground meat and topped with a delicious tomato sauce.

Bigos

Looking for a delicious meal on a cold day? Bigos is your best option. This dish, which translates as “Hunter’s Stew,” contains healthy portions of sauerkraut and chopped meat. It’s Polish home cooking at its finest.
