How to Pick the Perfect Pomegranate

Pomegranates are one of the most delicious fruits, with a wide variety of health benefits. If you pick a good pomegranate, the seeds are so red, juicy, and delicious. Pick a bad one, though, and you’ll be disappointed—the seeds will lack that sweetness and juiciness you were craving. Obviously, picking the perfect pomegranate is super important, and yet sometimes it’s hard to know if the one you see at the shop is a good one. Luckily, there are a few ways to figure out if the pomegranate you picked up is the perfect one to buy.

It’s Heavy

When a pomegranate is really good, it has super juicy seeds. The extra juice makes the pomegranate really heavy, especially for its small size. So, if you pick up a pomegranate and it seems pretty heavy, it’s likely a good one!

It’s Not Perfectly Round

Similar to watermelons, the perfect-looking ones aren’t usually the best-tasting. Look for pomegranates that aren’t perfectly round. If they have flatter sides, you’re looking at a good one.

It Has Shiny Skin

If the pomegranate you picked up has bruised or rough skin, put it back. This is not the perfect pomegranate you’re looking for. Instead, look for a pomegranate with super smooth and shiny skin.
