If you’ve ever gone to an amusement park in America, you’ve likely smelled the sweet cinnamon aroma of churros. If you’re even luckier, you might have even gotten a chance to taste them in the past. The good news is, these delicious treats don’t have to be something you only try when you’re at a theme park. Here’s how to make churros within the comfort of your own home!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • Plenty of cinnamon sugar
  • Plenty of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

Place a large pan over medium heat and then add the water, sugar, and butter. Once you’ve brought them to a boil, and the vanilla as well. Turn the heat off and then add the flour and salt. Stir everything together until you’ve achieved a thick consistency. Allow the mixture to cool down. Once it’s cooled, beat each egg in one at a time. Transfer the entire mixture to a piping bag.

Fill up a large pot halfway with the oil over medium heat, and allow the oil to get to 375° F. Very carefully, squirt the mixture out of the piping bag into the bubbling oil, allowing four to six-inch length fingers of dough (or whichever length you choose) to sink into the oil and turn into churros. Allow them to fry until golden. When they’re done, transfer each churro into a separate bowl filled with cinnamon sugar. Place on a cooling rack to dry and enjoy!
