If you have decided to take part in dry January after a month of celebrating the holidays in December, then good for you. This does not mean that you have to miss out on going out to bars with friends—you can still have fun with a tasty mocktail and not wake up with a hangover the next morning. You can also make mocktails at home and have a night in with friends.

The best mocktails have something sweet and something sour, mixed with soda or tonic water. Here are a few mocktails for you to make at home.

Shirley Temple

You will need some ginger ale, freshly squeezed lime, and grenadine. Mix the ginger ale and lime juice in a high glass and pour in the grenadine. Garnish with a wedge of lime and maraschino cherry.

Pomegranate and Ginger Spritzer

You will need half a cup of fresh gingerroot, sliced lime, pomegranate and orange juice, and club soda. Place the lime and ginger in a large pitcher and add the pomegranate and orange juice and refrigerate overnight. Just before you serve, take out the lime and ginger and add the club soda for a fruity and refreshing mocktail.

Apple Cider Mocktail

This cocktail requires a little bit of preparation, but the results are worth it. You will need to make a cinnamon and ginger simple syrup and then add to that some apple cider. Shake with some ice, and add some apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish.
