So many delicious recipes and salads taste so good with balsamic glaze, but you might not have it on hand. Balsamic glaze is great if you want a bit of a thicker, sweet and tangy topping. Luckily, it’s super easy to make balsamic glaze at home with only one ingredient–balsamic vinegar!

You don’t even need to measure anything because the process is adjustable for whatever you have or need. If you want to make a big batch, you can store it in the fridge in a dressing bottle or jar. We recommend doing this so you don’t need to make it again for a while.

How to Make It

All you need to do is pour your balsamic vinegar into a pot over medium heat. Keep in mind as you pour that when it forms into a glaze, it will reduce to about half the amount. If you want your glaze to be a bit sweeter, you can add a bit of brown sugar or honey at this time.

Once the liquid begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer. Make sure to stir it often to prevent burning or sticking.

Once the mixture is about half the amount you began with, it should be quite thick. You know the glaze is ready when it coats the back of the spoon. Once it does this, remove the glaze from the heat and cool completely. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.
