Got a bunch of bananas turning ever more speckled in the fruit bowl, and can’t see yourself finishing them off? Don’t stress! It couldn’t be easier to home-freeze bananas into blendable chunks, perfect for use at a later date.

Frozen bananas add delicious creaminess to your favorite breakfast smoothies, shakes, and juices. They can also be transformed into vegan banana “nice-cream”, or used in baking and desserts.

Bananas are packed with essential nutrients like fiber, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C, as well as health-boosting antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Instructions:

  1. Peel all the bananas you want to freeze and discard the skins. Don’t worry about removing the bruises or stringy bits.
  2. Chop the bananas into bitesize discs, taking care not to squish any!
  3. Line a cookie sheet with baking paper
  4. Arrange the banana pieces so that none are touching one another. This will stop the bananas from clumping together once they are frozen.
  5. Place in the freezer uncovered and leave for around 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Once frozen, you can pop your bananas in a resealable freezer bag or freezer-friendly storage box. They are now ready to use when you are!

Top Tip: Pop the date on your banana box or bag so you can remember when your bananas were frozen. They are best used within 6 months.
