How to Cut Cauliflower Into Every Shape

Cauliflower is no longer a boring side dish, it’s a healthy alternative to rice, pizza crust, and hummus, but before you can use it in your favorite recipes, you need to know how to cut it. To start, wash your cauliflower and tear off the outer leaves. Here’s how to cut cauliflower florets, cauliflower steaks, and how to make cauliflower rice.

Cauliflower Florets

Cauliflower florets can be used for anything from cauliflower wings to veggies for veggie dip.

  1. Turn the head of the cauliflower onto the side, gripping it firmly, cutting off the stem.
  2. Cut the cauliflower head in half through the widest part.
  3. Holding the cauliflower from the top and slicing from the highest part of the core down the cutting board to remove the core.
  4. Break the florets with your hands. They should break easily and if you want them smaller, use a knife or your hands to break them.

Cauliflower Steaks

Cauliflower steaks are great for a vegetarian dinner option.

  1. Slice off the sides with your knife, with the stem facing upward.
  2. Leaving the core intact, cut 1 inch thick slices from the center of the cauliflower.
