We all know the drill. We go to a supermarket with the intention of buying a certain amount of items, and then when we get there, things get very carried away. We find ourselves buying three times the amount of items we thought we were going to originally, and sometimes end up with a little bit of buyer’s remorse. There are just too many great things in the supermarket, aren’t there? Here’s how to avoid over-shopping in a supermarket.

Make a List

The best way to avoid over-shopping at a supermarket is to just make a list of all the things you need, instead of keeping the list in your head. Because when you keep the list in your head, it’s a lot easier to just go for whatever you see in front of you. But when you have an actual concrete list you almost have a responsibility to check things off as you go.

This mission-based attitude allows you to have a lot more discipline as you navigate those alluring supermarket aisles. Before you know it, your list will be all checked off and you’ll know in your heart that it’s time to visit the check-out counter.
