If you’re like us, you might have grown up eating Pop-Tarts for breakfast more often than you probably should have. There’s no denying that these sweet little toaster pastries are delicious, but the store-bought versions are made with about 40 ingredients including artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.

While these can be fine in moderation, we actually think it’s more fun to make our own Pop-Tarts at home. They’re a great option when you’re not in the mood for pancakes or waffles, and you can make it fun by choosing your own toppings and fillings. There are tons of recipes that explain the process step-by-step—here are some of our favorites.

Healthy Homemade Blueberry Pop-Tarts

This healthy take on blueberry Pop-Tarts by The Fit Peach are vegan, gluten-free, and paleo-friendly, but you’d never guess by tasting them. They’re made with an almond flour crust and frozen blueberries, though the recipe includes an option to use other berries if you desire.

Boston Cream Donut Pop-Tarts

Boston Creme Donut is probably one of the more underrated Pop-Tart flavors, often overshadowed by the more popular S’Mores and Brown Sugar Cinnamon. This recipe, however, has us rethinking our Pop-Tart flavor preferences. It’s chocolaty, indulgent, and filled with fresh pastry cream.

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts

Store-bought or homemade, you can’t go wrong with this classic Pop-Tarts Flavor. This recipe combines melted butter with brown sugar and cinnamon for a pastry that smells as good as it looks. We recommend enjoying them fresh from the oven.
