Pretzels are one of the best snacks you can get when you need a quick bite. Fluffy and crunchy at the same time, they are guaranteed to make your day better immediately. But did you know that you don’t have to run to the bakery each time you are craving some pretzels?

Making pretzels at home is simpler than you would have thought, and you will end up with a great product every time. Especially if you decide to use our recipe for traditional Bavarian pretzels. Check it out below.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4 tablespoons baking soda
  • 12 cups water
  • Sea salt

Instructions

1. Mix flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Add yeast and milk.

2. Using your hands, mix the ingredients until you have formed the dough. Add butter and knead the dough for up to 10 minutes.

3. Return the dough into a bowl and cover it with a damped cloth. Leave the dough to rest for an hour.

4. Divide the dough into equal chunks. Roll them on the counter to get sticks that you’ll use to form pretzels.

5. Leave pretzels on the counter for 15 more minutes to allow them to rise a bit more.

6. Meanwhile, dissolve the baking soda in water and bring it to a boil.

7. Dip the pretzels into the baking soda water and line them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Sprinkle with some sea salt.

8. Pop into the preheated oven at 390F and bake for 20 minutes. Enjoy.
