First there was mushroom coffee and then there was broccoli coffee, well now there’s peanut coffee. This new coffee is the latest drink trend and it’s less acidic and has more protein than a normal cup of coffee. It’s perfect for peanut lovers and it’s a nice alternative to a latte or espresso. So what is peanut coffee?

The original creator of peanut coffee is Virginia Gold, owned by James Harrell. The product is made during the peanut oil extraction process which leaves behind a powder that looks like espresso. The powder is then blended to get a similar consistency to ground coffee. Peanut coffee is made with 100 percent peanuts and it’s naturally caffeine-free and acid-free. If you want a buzz, the company sells a caffeinated version as well.

What’s surprising about the coffee is that you don’t really taste the peanuts. The coffee tastes similar to traditional coffee. It has a smooth, nutty, roasted, coffee flavor.

To make peanut coffee, just prepare it the same way you would traditional coffee. The powder can be used in a French press, espresso machine, or regular drip coffee maker.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to give peanut coffee a try?
