Over the course of his career, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has acquired a number of tricks that help him add a special twist to his dishes and make them perfect. Nowadays, he is sharing them with cooking enthusiasts all over the world through his cooking videos. In one of those videos, Ramsay shared a secret ingredient he uses to make steaks juicier.

Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Ingredient for a Juicier Steak

In a video taken from his series The F Word, Ramsay is seen preparing a filet mignon. After getting the steaks seared, he adds garlic, rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, and chicken stock to the pan. Yes, you’ve read it right: chicken stock.

According to Ramsay, the secret to great steak is to keep it “nice and moist.” The chicken stock does a wonderful job considering that it is absorbed into the meat during cooking while not being overpowering, thanks to its subtlety.

On the bonus side, chicken stock will create a delicious sauce, rounding all of the flavors from the garlic and herbs.

While Ramsay uses filet mignon, you can turn to chicken stock when preparing other types of steaks if you want to prevent them from drying out.
