TikTok has become a hub for creative and viral food trends, and “girl dinner” is the latest new craze to emerge on this social media platform. This emerging trend has been described as a lazy take on charcuterie boards, and it’s all about making a meal with random food and snacks you have at home.

“Girl dinner” means different things to different people, and it’s all about ending the day with an easy, hustle-free meal. This trend drew comparisons to charcuterie boards, minus the aesthetics, because most people included cheese, salami, olives, pickles, fruit, veggies, and bread in their videos.

Olivia Maher is responsible for coining this term, and she explained that her dinner looks pretty simple because there’s no need to impress anyone late in the evening.

“As a woman who lives alone, I don’t really go above and beyond when cooking dinner during my solo nights in. I think that many women are collectively acknowledging that easy, low-effort dinners like cheese plates and snacky items are a way to decompress after a long day,” she told Insider.

Although “girl dinner” didn’t receive as much backlash as the controversial “what I eat in a day” trend, this craze is already proving to be polarizing. Some of the viral videos posted under this hashtag featured low-calorie, innutritious meals, but “girl dinner” can actually be healthy and filling if you strike the right balance.
