Funnel Cakes Are a Nostalgic Treat That is Easy to Make at Home!

Funnel cakes are that treat you always want to get in the summertime. Essentially all it is is fried batter, but when you take a bite, it really reminds you of something special and nostalgic. Making them at home is super and will have all your friends and family reminiscing.

Recipe

  1. Begin by pouring neutral oil into a pot and heating it while you make the batter.
  2. In a bowl, mix 1 ½ cups of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In a measuring pitcher, pour in 1 ¼ cups of whatever type of milk you like, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 2 tablespoons of melted salted butter, and whisk everything together.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry and stir to form the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into a squeeze bottle or a medium-sized funnel and use your finger to cover the bottom so the batter doesn’t drip.
  6. Release the batter into the oil and make it into a circle, but make sure you are always moving around so there are small holes in between the layers.
  7. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes until golden, and then drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar and dig in!
