Foods That Are High in Vitamin D

Now that we’re about to spend more time indoors—both due to quarantine and colder weather—it’s more important than ever to up our daily vitamin D intake. Vitamin D is necessary for our body to work efficiently, so make sure to include these foods in your diet.

Mushroom

Only one cup of mushrooms can provide 46 percent of our daily vitamin D intake, which makes mushrooms one of the best plant-based sources of vitamin D. There are plenty of versatile meals you can prepare with this nutritious plant—such as creamy mushroom sour, mushroom pasta or grilled mushrooms.

Tuna

Tuna is another excellent source of vitamin D that also happens to be very healthy and delicious. Treat yourself to a nice tuna sandwich for breakfast or prepare a tuna salad for lunch to boost your vitamin D intake.

Egg Yolks

Eggs whites are high in protein, but vitamin D and other vitamins and minerals are found in the egg yolk. This is another great reason to eat eggs for breakfast or dinner, or to add them to your salad.

Milk

Cow’s milk is rich in vitamin D, but if you’re vegan or just looking for healthier options, soy milk is a great alternative. Since vitamin D is mostly found in animal products, soy milk is a valuable source of this vitamin for vegetarians and vegans.
