We’re big fans of eating seasonally, and fall brings no shortage of flavorful produce that we look forward to eating all year long. Beyond the basics like apples and pumpkin, one of our favorite autumnal fruits is pomegranate, which starts to ripen toward the end of September and reaches its peak by late November. The sweet, yet tart flavor and ruby red color of pomegranate seeds make for a perfect addition to all kinds of salads, drinks, and desserts. Here are a few of our go-to recipes.

Pomegranate Fall Harvest Salad

Add some color to your table with this vibrant fall salad by recipe developer Danilicious. Kale and quinoa serve as a hearty base for creamy goat cheese and butternut squash along with candied pecans for a touch of sweetness. Sprinkle with plenty of fresh pomegranate seeds, and whatever you do, don’t skip the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette.

Pomegranate Drizzle Bundt Cake

Pomegranates are native to the Middle East, and this recipe by chef Jamie Oliver does a fantastic job of paying homage to the fruit’s origins by pairing it with other ingredients from the region. The cake itself is light, yet satisfying thanks to the yogurt and tahini in the batter, while the fresh pomegranate rose water drizzle adds sweetness and tang.

Pomegranate Aperol Spritz

If there’s one thing we love more than a good old-fashioned cocktail (pun intended), it’s a good old-fashioned cocktail with a seasonal twist. Aperol Spritzes are traditionally made with just Aperol, Prosecco, and a splash of soda, but this version by Jessica from How Sweet Eats includes pomegranate juice and fresh arils for a subtle nod to the changing leaves. Add a slice of orange, and you’ve got foliage in a glass.
