Almonds are incredibly versatile. Their claim to fame at the moment appears to be a liquidized version that you pour into your coffee, but there is way more potential that this nut holds.

Most people recognize almonds in a brown, oval-shaped form, but have you ever seen an almond when it’s raw?

Known as green almonds, these little guys are soft and fuzzy and show up in the spring. They’re only around for a short period, though, which is why you should grab ‘em if you see ‘em.

The taste of a green almond has been described as tart and tangy, somewhat similar to a green apple. There is also a specific way to prepare and eat them.

It is important to wash the unripe almonds as thoroughly as possible. They don’t require any cooking, but dipping them in some salt is known to enhance the flavor. You’ll find them as a popular snack in the Middle East.

Green almonds are also fairly on the healthy side as they are packed with protein, fiber, healthy fats, and vitamin E.

Plus, they’re just rather fun to eat!
